Where to buy?

OK I admit, most of my lenses came from eBay.

But if you don’t want to succumb to the allures of ‘evilBay’ bidding, there are respectable sellers around the world that occasionally have these lenses available:

RAF Camera.com
Rafael from Belarus knows his stuff. That’s pretty much all I can say! He is well aware of the prices anamorphic lenses command these days so you’re not going to find bargains with him. But he is very honest in describing his products and has great communication. I have bought many items from him. He also does PL conversions.

Olex Services Konvas.com
Olex from Ukraine describes himself as a Konvas expert. And I do not doubt his abilities. He doesn’t have much stuff to sell but I have sent some lenses for him to repair. If you find yourself with a dodgy or broken lens, don’t fret, Olex may be able to help you out. The only issue I have is that he requests payment via Western Union. So, unlike PayPal, the buyer must pay hefty fees (depending on the total amount).

Ken Rich
Ken is apparently a Hollywood veteran with shitloads of gear to sell. He’s also arguably the only seller with the most outdated website. Seriously, it looks like something I did in school. But he’s got some serious gear. The link goes to his anamorphic section. Prices are possibly the highest I’ve seen. But he also rents out anamorphic gear if needs be.

Steve Morton
Aussie Steve Morton is a physics professor! So I doubt he messes around. He sold me a few nick nacks for repairs so if he could be able to help you out too. He also advertises modifications for DSLRs (removing the mirror to accept more cine lenses) and is one of the few sellers in the world that stock OCT-19 to Canon EOS adapters.

Sergey Kravchenko
It’s odd how there’s only one Russian seller out there! Or at least he’s the most reputable Russian I know of. Based in St Petersburg, Russia, Sergey undoubtedly has good access to LOMO equipment. He’s got accessories such as gear rings and adapters too. He also frequents forums like Reduser and Divxuser to hawk his goods. His prices are also standard market value but from what I’ve seen, he only sells the highest quality. I’ve linked to his Flickr page that displays his goods as he doesn’t seem to have a website. He also does PL conversions. He only accepts payments via telex/wire transfer.

eBay sellers ciecio7 & funkykoval
Both these gentlemen are from Poland and only sell accessories and adapters. I’ve bought from both. Ciecio7′s goods are more expensive, but he’s got much more variety. More importantly the difference for me is that Ciecio7 has adapters with tripod collars. This is crucial when you have a small camera such as a GH2 and a big-ass anamorphic lens on the front – the collar will take the weight burden off the GH2. This is also handy when you have to rig it up: The tripod collars have two mounting holes for extra stability.

  1. Hi,

I really appreciate your website because I’m a big fan of Tarkovski and anamorphic Lomo lenses.
I only have a GH2 with some two or three anamorphic lenses like Kowa and Isco, but I dream to have someday a 35mm Lomo anamorphic.

I know the prices are totally crazy (insane) on ebay, but I’m looking here and there for theses Lomo lenses and I found this on ebay : http://www.ebay.com/itm/170748803143?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

I dont know if it’s possible to have your advice about theses Lomo’s??? As far as you can see, could you tell me what’s your feeling? Do you have a clue for a better way to find someone who can help me to have an advice?

Sorry for my english (I’m from french part of Canada). Merci, thank you in advance…

  2. Hi.
I’m willing to buy a roundront anamorphic 50mm LOMO lens.
I want to mount it on my canon 5D — it has not been modified (the mirror has not been removed).
The lens has an oct19 mount.
Would you please be kind to tell me if, in your opinion the blue adapter made by ciecio7 would definitely work?
Should I gather more info about the LOMO lens, or all roundront can be mounted the same way?
    Thanx a lot!
    Best regards.
    Stéphane
